How to create a Facebook page for your restaurant in 10 steps

A Facebook page is free, and many customers still look for restaurants there. Here is why it is worth having one, and how to set it up in ten steps.

Why your restaurant needs a Facebook page

  • Customers search for you there. They check your hours, your location and your menu.
  • It is free to set up and run. You only pay if you choose to advertise.
  • It shows how people find you. Your page insights show who follows you, where they are and which posts they like.
  • It builds trust. Reviews, recommendations and regular posts show a restaurant that is open and cared for.
  • It sends people to order. An action button and links in your posts take them straight to your menu.

How to set up a Facebook page for your restaurant

You create a page from your personal Facebook account. Your personal details do not show on the page. Your account is only the key that lets you manage it.

1. Create the page

Open the Facebook menu, choose Pages, then Create new Page.

2. Add the basics

  • Name: your restaurant’s name, spelled the way customers search for it.
  • Category: choose the closest, such as Restaurant, Fast food restaurant or Café.
  • Bio: one or two short lines on what you serve and what makes you different.

3. Add your details

Add your phone number, website, address, opening hours and price range. Customers use these to call, find you and decide when to come. Keep them up to date, especially in Ramadan and on holidays.

4. Add a profile picture and cover photo

Use your logo as the profile picture: it is what people see next to every post and comment. For the cover, use your best item, your room or your storefront. Check that nothing important is cut off on a phone.

5. Choose a username

Your username gives your page a short web address. Use your restaurant’s name. If it is taken, add your city or country, such as “kw” or “cairo”.

6. Add an action button

The action button sits at the top of your page. Choose the action that matters most to you: order food, call now, or send a WhatsApp message. Link “Order food” to your own ordering website, so the order and the customer stay with you.

7. Share your menu

Make your menu easy to find. Link to your online menu from the action button and your page details. Post a photo of your menu and pin it to the top of your page. Use clear, recent photos that match the food.

8. Give your team access

In the page settings, open Page access. Give full control only to people you trust completely. Give everyone else partial access, or access to only the tasks they do, such as replying to messages or running ads. Remove access when someone leaves.

9. Build your first audience

Invite your friends to follow the page. Link to it from your website, your Instagram and your receipts. Connect your Instagram account so you can manage both together. When you are ready, a small paid promotion can reach people near you by location, age and interests.

10. Post good content, and reply

Post photos of your items, offers, events and the team. Reply to comments and messages quickly. Fast replies show customers you are listening, and many messages are orders waiting to happen.
